Victoria Pennant
The Club's major competition interest is
the winter pennant tennis competition
conducted by Tennis Victoria. Grace Park prides itself on being one of the
strongest, and longest-standing, competition tennis clubs in Victoria. The Club
has for many years fielded teams up to the highest level, and aims to provide
opportunities for players of all standards. By providing a full range of teams,
the Club hopes to enable players of promise - particularly junior players - to
improve their standards and make the most of their tennis abilities.
The number and composition of teams varies from year to year. Presently, there
are 15 men's teams and 6 women's teams. The process of team selection for
pennant commences in December, when Members will receive forms inviting them to
express their interest in representing the Club. The annual Club Championships,
held in March, are also important in finalizing pennant teams.
Grace Park fields both men's and women's teams in the premier Victorian club
competition - State Grade conducted as part of Tennis Victoria’s pennant
competition. The teams play their matches on Sunday afternoons, commencing at
12.30pm. As the standard of this tennis is very high and great to watch, Members
are encouraged to come along and support Grace Park at both its home and away
fixtures. All other grades play:- Women, Saturday 9am; Men, Saturday and Sunday
1:00pm.
Summer
Tennis
The Club fields a number of teams in various competitions during the
summer months, generally commencing around October. There are usually teams
available for interested members of a variety of standard. Members wishing to
participate should place their names on the lists which are placed on the Club
notice board (from August onwards).
Night
Tennis
The
Club fields teams in the Blackburn and District Night Tennis Association (BDNTA)
competition where matches are played at approximately 20 venues throughout the
district.
Teams play at night from 7.00pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. The format is Open
Doubles with a team of four players. Six sets are played - with each player
playing one set with each of his team mates. There are grades for many levels
from Section 1 to Section 17.
There are two seasons of 14 rounds each year, commencing in February and July.
Breaks coincide with school holidays and no matches are played on Public
holidays.
Interested members should contact the Club.

championships are held over a three week period in June/July. Open, grade and
