Men's Vets 1 Grand Final (Continued from first page)

Going into the final as favourites is never the ideal scenario, as our defeat in last year's final to Burwood proved, and so it was for Kooyong this year.
Right from the start, the momentum moved in Grace Park's favour when we won the toss.

Brian's first service game was a beauty, lasting a good ten minutes, and gave everyone a hint of some great points to come.  A subsequent break and set point to Grace park was whittled back to a hard fought tie-breaker with Brian & Colin just getting over the line.

The second set saw Brian lose his serve, and all was even at a set all.
In the 3rd, Colin lost his serve to love after never being pushed very hard, but from there, Brian and Colin reeled off six straight games to secure a win over Kooyong's Wes & Stephen - The Kooyong pair's only second loss for the season.

Jason and Greg overcame Kooyong's Cam & Marty 6/4 in the 3rd, and in the reverse, Brian & Colin won 6/2, 6/1 over the same pair.
At this time the result was confirmed in Grace Park's favour.

To summarise - a great match with high-class doubles play in every rubber.  With each year, the standard improves, so the result will hopefully keep the Kooyong boys keen for another crack at next year's flag.

"We might be old, but we can play"

- Colin Davis
