Pennant
Report July, 2008
With only one week to go before finals the Club has nine of its sixteen
teams poised to hopefully win some more pennants to decorate the Club and
enhance our position as one of Melbourne’s premier competition clubs.
Our State grade teams are both performing superbly with our women in 2nd place,
while our men’s team is firmly entrenched in top position.
In other women’s our grade one and grade four are 2nd and our teenage girls in
grade six are 4th and deserve a lot of credit in this their first season for
Grace Park.
In the men’s ranks our grade four team is 2nd and our grade five
#1 team is 3rd while the five # 2 team in the same section is 5th.
On the senior’s scene our Section 1 team is in 1st position and our section 2
team is in fourth.
Grace Park is again hosting the State Grade Finals on the 17th August. Other
teams in finals may be selected to play at Grace Park, or at venues afar
depending on their final position. When this becomes known Venues will be posted
on the notice board at the Club.
So avail yourself of some great tennis and come down and support your members
and the club.
Finally good luck to all those participating and, whether you win or not the
club, congratulates you on reaching the sectional finals.
Colin Davis
Pennant Secretary.
P.S. For the Bayside Summer Competition, please contact Sandra or Colin via the
club as team entries close early in August. While the Club will grade
individuals where required summer teams are often formed by groups of friends so
ask your fellow club members if they’d like to participate.
