WATER WORKS AT GRACE PARK TENNIS CLUB
In the coming weeks there will be considerable construction activity at
the Clubhouse end of the Car Park area. Members and visitors are asked to be
tolerant in accepting any inconvenience that may result from this temporary
disruption as it is for a very worthwhile purpose.
You will all be aware of the water crisis. Your Club is already reduced to
watering only half of its courts. If restrictions become more stringent (very
likely) watering of courts will be prohibited.
Your Committee has taken timely and responsible action with respect to this and
with respect to everyone's need to conserve our precious but limited water
resources.
We are constructing an underground water tank, water gathering and pumping
system of 100,000 litres capacity. Rain water from the Clubhouse roof will be
directed to the underground storage tank. A high power pump will circulate this
water through a system of pipes taps and hoses for use in watering a selected
number of courts.
